The Open Waters

Today was an adventure of a lifetime! I went paddle boating. For most that would mean a leisure peddle around a small body of water taking in the sights and nature and all that jazz. Well, when you do it LaPointe Style that is never the case!

My sister, Bree, and I decided we were going to take the paddle boat out on the lake at my parent's cottage this afternoon. We wanted to get our cardio in for the day. Our goal was a 45 minute workout while perusing the new lake where my parents now reside in the summers! The trip started out great, the wind in our hair and all that but then it took an ugly turn.

Out of no where the wind picked up and the waves on our new little lake started to fill up our boat rather quickly. We were sinking and sinking fast. I had to jump out and pull us to shore. We emptied the boat and started again hoping to make it back quickly. However, again we were sinking and had to get to shore to empty the boat.

We were not that far from the house so my sis ran for my dad and brother in law. And I waited with the paddle boat. She returned about 5 to 10 minutes later with my mom! However, grateful to see them, it did little for my confidence when it was just my mom, sister and two plastic oars...No men to get the paddle boat home.

So my mom, sister and I dumbed the boat again and made our way back into the open sea. However we quickly filled with water yet again. So now we think it best to drag this very heavy paddle boat up the neighbors property to the road and carry it to our cottage.

Bree and I made it up the road a little ways and then the reinforcements came. My dad, brother-in-law and family friend, Mark. They carried the boat safely back to the house...Four houses away.

All in all it was the best adventure ever. Paddle boating LaPointe style for sure. And boy did Bree and I get our cardio work out today :)

I'm surprised you didn't call the Coast Guard. Bree told me once they were a good contact.lol

What else are you suppose to do when you are stranded in a boat all night? This was just a paddle boat and we were 10 yards from the coast.
